2011 Professional Training Programme

The annual professional training programme in Sri Lanka brings together practitioners and policy makers from the development, peacebuilding and conflict resolution sectors across South Asia to share experiences, reflect on their practice and develop new approaches for working in and on conflict in their countries. Our approach to training is as a means to acquire and develop practical skills relevant to peacebuilding and development in South Asia. Rather than following a lecture format, the Annual Training Programme focuses on skills development through hands-on, experiential learning.

Each course is led by trainers experienced as both a practitioner and a trainer. The trainers work with participants to develop a conducive environment for learning and to ensure that the course meets their particular needs. Find out more about our training methodology

The programme is comprised of two core courses followed by three specialised courses. Participants can choose to take both a core and specialised course, or depending on experience level, can choose only the specialised course.

Each specialised course has an integrated field work component to enable participants to put their learning into practice straight away.
