Canan Gündüz is a Senior Programme Officer with International Alert’s Peacebuilding Issues Programme, where she works on identifying lessons from business interventions in peacebuilding, and outreach to the domestic private sector in different conflict-affected countries. Her regional focus is on South and South East Asia, where she has worked extensively, in particular in Nepal, Sri Lanka and the Philippines. She carries out research and advocacy on improving conflict-sensitivity of economic recovery interventions by the donor community and is a co-facilitator on the Swedish Folke Bernodotte Academy ‘Working with economic actors on conflict prevention and peacebuilding’ course. Ms Gündüz previously worked for the UN Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs, and UK DfiD’s Conflict and Humanitarian Affairs Department. She holds a Master of Science degree in Development Studies from the London School of Economics, and among other publications was co-author of ‘Sustaining Business and Peace; A resource pack on corporate responsibility for small and medium enterprises’; and co-edited a multi-country volume, ‘Local Business, Local Peace: the Peacebuilding Potential of the Domestic Private Sector.’
