Who we work with
Bespoke courses
From mid 2009 we opened our capacity building department. We will provide bespoke courses on request. We will work closely with institutions, INGOs and NGOs to assess their training and learning needs. Based on this assessment we will jointly design a programme that responds to these needs. If you are an organisation or institution that is interested in a tailor-made programme contact us to find out more. PDI-SL works with a range of different organisations and individuals engaged in peacebuilding and development in South Asia including; Practitioners, Donors and Policymakers, INGOs & NGOS and Private Sector Companies.
Practitioners
Practical in approach and based on the realities of the practitioners engaged; our training and learning programmes go beyond understanding what is involved in peacebuilding and development to knowing how to do it and to do it well. Our training and learning programmes bring together professional practitioners from across the region. They provide a space to share experiences, reflect on and critique current practice and build the skills and understanding needed for effective work in conflict-affected areas. See our annual training programme.
Donors and Policymakers
For effective decision making, donor and policy-oriented organisations need to be connected with current realities, challenges and practices on the ground. Similarly effective funding by donors requires a close and shared understanding with the operational body in order to maximise the impact of the funds spent. PDI-SL provides this connection. Our training programmes bring together donors, policy makers and practitioners to jointly reflect, critique and develop shared understanding of the realities of working in conflict and build new approaches to improve their impact. We work internally with institutions and governments to provide a range of learning opportunities specifically for policy and donor staff. Through training, workshops, seminars and materials PDI-SL supports institutions and governments in their understanding, decision making and programming in areas affected by conflict. Contact us to find out more.
INGOs and NGOS
PDI-SL supports humanitarian, development and peacebuilding organizations in developing more conflict-sensitive approaches to their work. We can work closely with an organisation over a period of time to provide capacity building and accompaniment on a particular area of development. Alternatively we offer individual training courses and facilitation tailored to the specific work and needs of the organisation. Contact us to find out more.
Private Sector Companies
Over the last decade, small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs) and multinational companies have begun to assess the impact that their operations have in areas affected by conflict and subsequently, the role that they can play in promoting peaceful communities. PDI-SL works with SME’s in areas affected by conflict to build practical approaches to implementing corporate social responsibility; exploring the role they can play in sustaining both their business and peace. PDI-SL also works with multi-nationals to reduce the risks of their operations in conflict-affected regions and to promote stability and improved relations with local populations.
